About the lease
Wild Game
According to information provided by Texas Parks & Wildlife, here is a list of the game available to hunt during the legally designated hunting season(s) in Texas.
Waterfowl
- Hunts begin at 4:30 AM and end at noon the same day.
- Early Teal: Each day of the Early Teal Season.
- South Zone Duck: Each day of the South Zone Duck Season as established for Orange County. East of Hwy. 87/73.
- Only on Wed., Fri., and Sun. West of Hwy. 87/73: Only on Tues., Thurs., and Sat.
- Motorized access restricted to perimeter waters of Wetland Restoration Area and the Leveed impoundment west of Hwy. 87.
Geese
- During the established seasons for these species only on hunt dates and times designated for waterfowl.
Rabbits
- Feb. 1-28 (no bag limit). Hunting from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.
Fishing
- Within the designated hunt area, fishing is allowed Sept. 1-Oct. 31 and Feb.1- Aug. 31.
- Closed Nov. 1-Jan. 31.
- Fishing is restricted to 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset.
- No commercial crabbing or bait fishing allowed on the Area.
- Bank anglers must possess a valid APH or LPU Permit.

- Shotguns with non-toxic shot only.
Special regulations
- During the period of Sept. 1-Feb. 28, access to the WMA is restricted to foot and non-motorized boats EXCEPT from 4:30 a.m. to end of legal shooting hours on designated hunt days.
- Temporary blinds may be constructed using natural vegetation (brush, cane, etc. - no lumber, wire, or other construction materials allowed).
- The WMA is open year round to permitted users. See Prohibited Acts for further restrictions.
Note
- Motorboat operators are advised that disturbance of soils and plants on the WMAs is prohibited.
- The hunt area between Lake Street and Hwy 87/73 is non-motorized access only.
- Hunters may enter the WMA no earlier than 4:30 a.m.
- Uprooting seagrasses using a propeller is prohibited by law.
Special season
- Youth and Veteran/Active-Duty Military Only
- Waterfowl: See TPWD Outdoor Annual for Special Season information and regulations.
- Youth/Adult Only Area: Each day of Early Teal Season and each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of Regular Waterfowl Season as established for Orange County.
- Hunts begin at 4:30A and end at noon the same day.
- No more than 2 participating adults per party, each party is required to have one hunting youth participant (under 17).
- Maxiumum of 5 hunters per party.
