At this park, you can camp, go birding and beach combing, paddle in a canoe or kayak, swim, fish, hunt (in season) and walk. Stroll along the Gambusia Nature Trail Boardwalk, which takes you through the marsh.

Wild Game
According to information provided by Texas Parks & Wildlife, here is a list of the game available to hunt during the legally designated hunting season(s) in Texas.
Waterfowl
- All Hunters must check out before noon.
- Early Teal: Each day of Early Teal, season except dates ENTIRE AREA Closed.
- South Zone Duck: During the dates established for Jefferson County, only on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Weaponry
Special regulations
- Persons using the hunt area must read and obey all regulations posted at the information station.
- Hunters may only enter the hunt area after 4:30 a.m. on designated hunt days and must leave by noon each day.
- Hunters must park in the designated numbered parking sites for numbered hunting site used.
- No vehicles allowed in parking sites before 4:30 a.m. or after 12:00 noon on any hunt day.
- Hunters must queue on Hwy 87 on the east side of Park Road 69.
- Hunters cannot queue before 4:30 p.m. the day before the hunt.
- No unattended vehicles permitted in queue.
- The hunt area can accommodate eight hunting parties; first 32 hunters on first-come, first-serve basis each hunt day.
- There are no longer any reservable sites.
- Access to the walk-in area is by foot only and requires a one mile walk through the marsh.
- Access to the boat-in area is from the park's boat ramp.
Special season
- Youth and Veteran/Active-Duty Military Only Waterfowl: See TPWD Outdoor Annual for Special Season information and regulations.
- Shooting hours end at noon.
